The best way to overcome ingrained patterns of submission is to restore a physical capacity to engage and defend. - Bessel Van Der Kolk
Whatever the reason for practicing embodied yoga and movement, the huge emotional, physical, and mental health benefits also come as part of a greater intent - to infuse our highest ideals into everyday living, whereby grace, compassion, and kindness become a way of life.
If we all lived this way, the continuum of trauma could finally end…I may be a Pollyanna but I intend to play my part in ending this terror.

Trauma Sensive Yoga
Specifically designed for those who’ve experienced PTSD, trauma, toxic stress, and systemic adversity.
Movements or shapes are combined with breath, designed to heal the nervous system. You’re invited to be in present moment awareness and make choices based on what you feel, or what you want to feel. There is no right or wrong way to do or be anything, making it a truly personal experience, each of us allowing and being, as we learn authentic empowerment.
As a facilitator I won’t touch, nor move around the room; I’ll be beside you in my own authentic space. It truly is a personal experience.
This is not a therapy session so I won’t ask you what happened to you, and don’t need to know, nor will I offer my interpretation of your experiences. This is a class built on choice, freedom and safety.
Based on TCTSY programme of Boston, interspersed with my own knowledge and lengthy professional studies of trauma, yoga therapy, and work with injuries and chronic pain.

Yin Bodied Movement-- From the mat to the matrix™
Yin is a quiet meditative practice which invites you to open the eyes on the inner space”. Infused with Somatic Sensing, In this space we learn to acknowledge the facets of human nature as we dwell in being; cultivating flexibility, acceptance and non-judgement.
In our fast paced, quite often stressful world, the contrast of space and stillness can often be quite startling, even daunting and yet is so very healing and so very needed. In this session we aim to find a balance of “doing” and “being” which then invite change… In our ability to surrender, yield and let go we are able to realign back to our true balance, which is our true nature.
Yin Yoga works to balance the chi (energy life force) in the body through longer holds in postures, shapes, and colors which gives time for the tough fibrous tissue and ligaments, known as fascia, to relax, release, and let go of deep seated tensions.
Somatic Movement
Discover how the relationship between the mind, body, movement and touch impact and inform each other in our daily lives and interactions with self, other and the world around us.
When we develop the means to notice with awareness, the conversation between the the body and mind we call this Embodiment. Learning to stay close to the body and it’s sensations while listening to the inner conversation through practiced play between mind, body, breath, movement, and hands on re-patterning in relation can bring us close to health and wellbeing. At the same time we begin to find it easier to access the depths of the mind for verbal expression. Here we are cultivating a sense of ‘knowing’ that is often hard to reach.
Somatic movement is guided but offers a more explorative and freer way of moving.
Restorative Yoga:
A more gentle form of yoga. A holistic approach to releasing both physical and emotional blockages within the body. Postures are more passive and are designed to adjust the nervous system, enabling the body to move towards greater balance…Mostly supported with props such as blankets, cushions, towels…
Scaravelli Inspired Yoga:
Inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, this class focuses on gravity; a feeling of grounding into the earth while at the same time cultivating core strength, weightlessness, buoyancy and length in the spine. Infused with somatic and explorative in nature- a gentle yet demanding yoga
Prana Flow®
Created by Shiva Rae is a somatic based form of vinyasa yoga which links one movement to the other embodying life, breath and movement at a cellular level…It’s like a cycle with a beginning, a middle and an end…The intelligent unfolding of a sequence in practice, life and nature…
Yoga Therapy:
YT is usually offered as a private session and could infuse any style of yoga or movement, though it may not look like a typical yoga class/session. Generally people see me with specific issues or needs they want to address so these sessions can look a little more non-choreographed.
I am either seeing people with more physical needs such as chronic pain or rehabilitation or, more mental/emotional conditions such as PTSD, or the symptoms of Complex Trauma, Anxiety, DPDR
Pilates
Merrithew ( formerly Stott Pilates) it is a form of mind/body exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on ‘flexible’ core strength, alignment and breath. Not everyone responds to the idea of yoga and I’ve found when working with people who have acute/chronic/or complex trauma pilates is one of the useful ways of guiding them back into their body and increasing confidence. .
